New York Guardians Look Like Early Favorites

Guardians Defend New York and Stay Undefeated

March 18, 2018

New York, NY - The Guardians pulled out all the stops in a full demolition of the Dallas Renegades. Everything was green-for-go for the home team as they built up a 28-3 halftime lead and coasted their way to an easy victory. Starting QB Josh Freeman led an offense that made mincemeat of the Renegades defense. Finishing with 253 yards and a rushing and two passing scores, Freeman was in control throughout the game, before being relieved with 5 minutes left by backup QB Sean Renfree.

The running game also found success as Orleans Darkwa combined for over 130 yards and 4 scores. The defense also played its part, limiting Dallas QB Tom Savage to only 168 yards passing and coming up with 3 turnovers, including a strip-sack by DL Phillip Hunt that gave the Guardians the ball at the Dallas two, an easy plunge for Williams one play later.

For Dallas, the defeat was a costly one as both starting wideout Arrelious Benn and running back Eddie Lacey had to leave the field with injuries. Their only highlight on the afternoon came when they were already down 42-6. Savage hit WR Sammie Coates on a short slant, but he split the safeties and took it to the house, very little, very late, but still a fun play.
