Tampa Bay Storm Ready to Take over the Alliance
August 20, 2018
Tampa, FL - Jeffrey Vinik and Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment LLC are proud to announce they were granted one of the four Alliance expansion teams for the 2019 season and that they would be bringing the Tampa Bay Storm to the Alliance. Minority owner Derrick Brooks then surprised the crowd by introducing Tony Dungy as the first Head Coach. Tony addressed the shocked crowd.
“This league is all about opportunity, and both, Bill (Polian) and I believed that Byron (Leftwich) and Trey (Brown) we're ready for that opportunity in Birmingham. We weren't going to stand in their way. Plus now I have been afforded the opportunity to come home to Tampa.”

Tony has spent the last three seasons as the Head Coach of the Birmingham Iron.
