San Antonio Finds First Win Against the Roughnecks
San Antonio Wins Battle of League's Worst Teams
April 2, 2017
San Antonio, TX - The game plan for both of these teams looked very similar, protect the young QB with short passes and a strong run game. Both QBs played better than expected and avoided the big mistake, but for the first time this season, the Commanders gave more support to their signal caller.
With the game tied 10-10 at the half, San Antonio took command of the game in the 3rd quarter when they outscored their opponents by 12 to go into the 4th quarter up 22-10. After Roughneck QB Zac Robinson hit TE Nate Byham for a 9 yard TD pass, the Commanders converted a 24 yard Field Goal to maintain a 25-17 advantage. Rarely used Houston RB Storm Johnson then put the ground on the turf which drastically changed the outlook of the game when San Antonio RB Montee Ball converted the turnover from 1 yard out to make the score 32-17. QB Zac Robinson would tack on a 49 yard touchdown pass to WR Danario Alexander with only a few seconds on the clock.
