Zac Stacy and Johnny Manziel Make Express Look like Geniuses
Memphis Winning Championship a Credit to Management
May 7, 2017
St. Louis, MS - Well the league probably didn't get the game they wanted for ratings, but they sure got their marquee star looking like such as he guided his Memphis Express to the league championship against an outmanned Chicago team. The Memphis Express credit may need to go to General Manager Mark Dominik as he went out and landed both QB Manziel and RB Zac Stacy in moves after the team started last season 0-6.
The Express was absolutely dominant in the first half and the scoreboard reflected that as they were up 24-3. QB Manziel threw all three of his touchdown passes in an explosive 2nd quarter. Alphas attempted a comeback in the 2nd half, but it just took too long for them to do so, as the Express determined the Alphas to be a less talented Birmingham Iron carbon copy. They took away the deep ball and kept their rushing attack in check until Mathews got out for a 55 yarder in the early fourth quarter.
Manziel looked to be happy and looked to be the franchise QB owner Frederick Smith thought he would be. The Express could be the league's first dynasty.
