2017 Week 7 Recap: Dragons Remain Undefeated

Updated: Mar 11, 2021

Dragons Look Like the League's Best Team

Seattle Dragons Defeat the New York Guardians at Home in Week 7

March 26, 2017

Seattle, WA - Dragon WR Davone Bess took the first punt of the game back 66 yards for a Touchdown and it gave Seattle enough momentum to ride out a strong first half. Seattle QB Jake Locker would hit WR TJ Graham for a 53 yard score and WR Ricardo Lockette on a 2 yard pass on the next two drives that helped the Dragons take a 24-3 lead into halftime.

You could see the 47,899 in attendance really make things difficult for the New York offense in the first half, and the second half would be more of the same for the Guardians and their signal caller. Guardian RB Ahmad Bradshaw took a 60 yard run to the house but it would be the only real offense the team could muster leaving no doubt that the Dragons have the biggest home field advantage in the league, and it's looking like the western division will be going through Seattle this year.

Los Angeles, New York and Seattle have been Sold

March 29, 2017

Stamford, CT - The league didn't hold a press conference for the announcement, but it did post a story on their website earlier this morning that their three last franchises, the Los Angeles Wildcats, New York Guardians and Seattle Dragons, have all now been sold.

The Los Angeles Wildcats have been purchased by Laurene Powell Jobs along with Jobs Sports and Entertainment LLC. Jobs is the founder of Emerson Collective and wife of the deceased Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Inc. Powell Jobs becomes the first female owner in the Alliance League. The Wildcats were purchased for $12.5M.

The New York Guardians have been purchased by Joe Moglia and TD Sports and Entertainment LLC. Moglia is the former chairman and CEO of TD Ameritrade, the world's largest discount brokerage in the world. He also was the Owner and Head Coach of the Omaha Nighthawks in the United Football League (UFL) in 2011, and the Head Coach of the University of Coastal Carolina from 2012 to 2016. The New York Guardians were purchased for $12.5M.

The Seattle Dragons have been purchased by Howard D. Schultz and the Schultz Family Sports LLC. Schultz currently serves as the CEO of Starbucks from 1986 to 2000 and then again from 2008 to present, while also owning the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics and WNBA's Seattle Storm from 2001 to 2006. Schultz has felt terrible about selling the SuperSonics and allowing the team to leave for Oklahoma City. He hopes this corrects some of the negative feelings towards him from the sports community. Schultz bought the Seattle Dragons for $12.5M.
