2022 Week 4 Recap: A Little Luck Rally

Updated: Apr 26, 2021

Not Much Separation From Top to Bottom

Dallas Finds Rhythm in 4th Quarter Rally

March 13, 2022

Dallas, TX - Tampa Bay Storm QB Jameis Winston got the scoring started in this contest late in the first quarter when he hit former Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin for an 8 yard Touchdown.

Both team offenses moved the ball consistently in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, but both floundered in the red zone as Ks Chandler Catanzaro and Elliott Fry combined for five Field Goals. The score is 16-6 in favor of the Storm entering the final quarter.

Storm RB Devonta Freeman added a 8 yard touchdown run at the beginning of the quarter, to make the score 23-6. However, Renegades RB Cameron Artis-Payne responded with a 34 yard touchdown run which seemed to inspire the defense as it forced the first three and out of the ball game from the Soul.

The Renegades then inched even closer as backup RB Zachary Evans pounded in a physical 3 yard Touchdown run to bring the score to 23-20. However, Dallas still needed one more quick stop with the clock running down under four minutes and that's exactly what they got when LB Tegray Scales stoned Storm RB Freeman on a 3rd and 1 run attempt that gave Luck and the rest of the Renegades 1:23 to respond.

QB Luck didn't even need that much time. The Renegades ran the ball effectively the entire second half and after a first down draw play with RB Evans netted them 11 yards, they looked to be going to that well again on the second play, but a play action allowed TE Donald Parham to sneak past the LBs where Luck hit him in the chest with a beautiful pass for the 53 yard TD pass the team needed to sneak out a 27-23 victory in front of the 57,378 Renegade fans.
