Updated: Mar 27, 2021

Iron vs Generals Next Week to Determine 2020 Champion

Iron Once Again Flattens the Eastern Conference

July 26, 2020

Frisco, TX - After a Predators' Field Goal, QB Tahj Boyd and the Iron rode an 18 play drive down to the one yard line where RB Trent Richardson finished the possession in the end zone. Orlando QB Garrett Gilbert then responded with back to back nice drives of his own that concluded with a 13 yard touchdown scamper by RB Akeem Hunt and a 2 yard TD pass to TE Ben Koyack. After an Iron Field Goal, the game went to halftime with a score of 17-10 in favor of Orlando. After a boring third quarter, that only saw Birmingham add another Field Goal, the fourth quarter brought more offense. Predators' RB Antonio Andrews finished an impressive drive with a 7 yard touchdown run that put Orlando up 24 to 13. However, Iron Head Coach Byron Leftwich and the Iron stuck to the game plan and stayed patient and conservative. RB Trent Richardson decided to take over the game late, where he punched in his second touchdown from 1 yard out, then gave his team the lead when he repeated the feat with only 0:37 left in the ballgame.

Streveler Becoming an Alliance Star

July 26, 2020

Frisco, TX - Columbus Generals QB Chris Streveler hit WR Devier Posey three times for Touchdowns in the 2nd quarter on Sunday putting the Generals up 21-3 going into halftime. After an abysmal first half, Fleet QB Colin Kaepernick rebounded in the third quarter finding a rhythm with former Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant and WR Braxton Miller to bring the game to 21-17 at the conclusion of the quarter. After a three and out for the Generals and with all of the momentum, the Fleet turned to RB Kapri Bibbs and he delivered big, gaining 44 yards on the drive that he finished with a touchdown and a Fleet 24-21 lead. However, Chris Streveler was named the game's MVP for a reason and that reason was the game's final drive. He connected with six different pass catchers en route to the 1 yard line where RB Charcandrick West jumped over the pile on 3rd and goal to give the Generals the lead, the win, 28-24, and the birth in the Alliance Championship.
