Herm Edwards Brings Championship to New York

April 17, 2016

Arlington, TX - Seattle QB Jake Locker had his team up 10-0 after the first quarter and 20-7 at halftime with two Touchdown passes, one to WR Derek Hagan and one to WR TJ Graham. But he also made the biggest mistake of the game that put the Guardians right back in it in the third quarter when he hit Guardian DB Terrell Thomas with an interception, that Thomas returned 43 yards for the pick six. Locker rebounded from his mistake to take the Dragons down for a Field Goal, but it was missed and the momentum continued to build for the Guardians.

Game Most Valuable Player, Guardian QB Josh Freeman then hit former New York Giant legend WR Hakeem Nicks for a 44 yard touchdown that gave New York their first lead, 21-20. Locker would then go throw his fourth Touchdown pass of the game on a 9 yard pass to WR Ricardo Lockette to give the Dragons the 27-21 lead. Four game minutes later, and Guardian RB Ahmad Bradshaw plunged into the endzone from four yards out to put New York back on top 28-27. A Dragon K Garrett Hartley 33 yard Field Goal would set the final stage for Freeman. Trailing 30-28 with four minutes to go, Freeman meticulously moved the football down the field as he went six for seven on the final drive for 61 yards, that Guardian K Casey Spear rewarded with the championship winning Field Goal and the 31-30 lead. A Locker hail mary attempt would fall the turf empty handed as the clock hit zeros.
