Updated: Mar 11, 2021

Dragons and Guardians Will Compete For First Ever Alliance Championship

Dragons Easily Relinquish the Struggling Roughnecks

April 9, 2016

Houston, TX - It was all Dragons from the start, they were only up 7-0 after one, but exploded in the second. WR Davone Bess got things started with a 93 yard punt return Touchdown, and then Dragon QB Jake Locker hit WR Derek Hagan for a pair from 12 and three yards out. Roughneck QB Vince Young would go find WR Danario Alexander for a score right before the half to make it 28-10, but the game was over. Locker made sure of it right out of the half, where the Dragons went the length of the field and RB Phillip Tanner scored from 10 yards out to put the score at 35-10. It was purely anti-climatic from there.

Josh Freeman Delivers Knockout Blow to Favored Iron

April 10, 2016

Birmingham, AL - Iron WR Kyle Williams took the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, but that would be the only opening half touchdown from either team. Iron K Alex Henery and Guardian K Casey Spear would trade three FGs back and forth to put the game at a 16-9 halftime score.

New York QB Josh Freeman would respond first in the second half with a 13 yard TD pass to WR Jarrett Boykin to tie it up. But the game didn't remain tied for long, Iron RB Trent Richardson took a carry up the middle for a 44 yard TD run. Guardian WR Tavarres King took an end around 42 yards to once again tie the game up at 23. Then the play of the game happened, Guardian LB Prince Shembo came around the edge and destroyed Iron QB Tahj Boyd, caused a fumble which was jumped on by DT Amobi Okoye. With the great field position and the advantage, the Guardians looked to be playing for the game winning Field Goal until RB Ahmad Bradshaw broke out and scored the game winning touchdown on a 24 yard scamper.

Iron - 23 Guardians - 30

BIRM(7-1): QB Tahj Boyd - 11/23 127 yards, RB Trent Richardson - 11 carries, 79 yards, 1 TD, RB Peyton Hillis - 18 carries, 55 yards, WR Kaelin Clay - 4 catches, 54 yards
