2019 Week 4 Recap: Houston Hurts Los Angeles

Updated: Mar 11, 2021

Roughnecks Turn to Rookie Jalen Hurts for Big Win

Jalen Hurts Win Debut with Roughnecks

March 10, 2019

Houston, TX - Jalen Hurts looked like a star for the 2-2 Houston Roughnecks, after a stellar performance, one which saw him throw for 4 touchdowns, the star treatment seems very appropriate. Hurts carved up the Wildcats defense for 230 yards while hitting four different receivers with TD catches, and, as if that were not enough, he added a 1 yard keeper for a score on top of that. RB Karlos Williams had 98 yards rushing on 20 carries, WR Sammie Coates had 4 catches, including an early TD, and the O-line gave up only 1 sack.

It was a solid win for the Roughnecks on offense and defense. For Los Angeles, a decent day from QB Jimmy Clausen was not enough. Clausen threw for 247 and 2 touchdowns, but most of it was in garbage time, after Houston had built a sizable lead. The loss dropped Los Angeles to their second straight defeat, which isn't the direction the Wildcats want to be heading in the highly competitive Western Conference.
