2021 Week 7 Recap: Dragons Roughed Up

Updated: Apr 10, 2021

Roughnecks Starting to Find Themselves

Playoff Races Tighten Up in the West

March 28, 2021

Houston, TX - The Alliance's Week 7 Saturday nightcap had a quiet first half and start to the third quarter, but that was quickly forgotten in the second half. The Houston Roughnecks(3-3) scored 21 straight points after the break to win 30-12 at the Seattle Dragons(4-2). A RB Karlos Williams two-yard run, a WR Cam Phillips 80-yard catch-and-run, and a DB Tanard Jackson 33-yard interception return all gave Houston touchdowns to help them dominate.

Seattle struggled to generate big plays on offense as QB Geno Smith didn't throw a touchdown pass and was intercepted twice. The Roughnecks unexpectedly dominated on the ground, outgaining Seattle 144-56. RB Karlos Williams led the way with 85 yards on 16 carries. LB Cameron Judge extended his league lead in sacks to 6.5 with a pair against Seattle; he also had four QB hits, two tackles for a loss, and five combined wrap-ups. Houston's pass rush prevented Smith and Seattle from having much time to let deep plays develop.
